ISLAMABAD: Maryam Nawaz, the daughter of ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif, said on Monday that her father keeps close tabs on social media.

In a statement on her twitter account, she said, “Mian sb keeps a keen eye on social media. [He] takes updates from me regularly.”

The former prime minister’s daughter and her cousin MNA Hamza Shahbaz have been inducted into the top tier of ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) as member of its Central Executive Committee (CEC).

On December 02, the party announced its 109-member Central Working Committee and 27-member Central Executive Committee.

Reports of internal differences stemming from the succession struggle between the Sharif’s side of the family and his younger brother Shahbaz Sharif’s family have been circulating since the ouster of the former prime minister in July this year in the Panama Papers.

Ms Sharif and her cousin have repeatedly refuted the reports of infighting within the ruling family.

In an interview to a leading American newspaper, she said the rumors of the infighting are overblown.“It’s not a divided house,” she had said.
