Chief of Naval Staff Open Asian Tour Golf Championship kicked off at Karachi Golf Club featuring a bunch of International and National players which will start competing from Thursday [October 11].
Dozens of International players from India, Bangladesh, Thailand, South Africa, Australia, Singapore will compete alongside local professionals to clinch the wealthy prize money of US $300,000.
The Patron PN Golf (South) Commodore Mushtaq Ahmed officially inaugurated the tournament which revived in Pakistan after a gap of almost 11 years.
The officials at the press conference briefed about the format of the tournament as it is being played in Professionals category as per Asian Tour and PGF Policy.
Commodore Mushtaq while talking to the media said that the tournament would pave the way for them to bring the golf under the limelight.
“Our prime goal is to flourish golf and this tournament is too crucial in that manner,” he said.
He further said that a country’s progress depends on how active they are and nothing is more important than staging different sports activities on regular basis.
“We want private and commercial sectors to come and join hands for promoting sports in the country,” said Mushtaq who sees a bright future of golf in Pakistan.
